Distressed Pelican

Posted by Picasa Theme Thursday topic this week was to use 'Labels' on our card and the Cuttlebug Challenge was to use 'Distress' so I have combined the two here. I ran the white card through the Swiss Dots folder then added Distress inks in greens and browns and sanded over the top. I added the lovely Pelican label from Crafty Image Emporium CD, added distress ink to the edges and attached a larger cut out pelican with a wonderful crown on his head. Now why would a pelican be advertising California Peas I ask myself? answers please.

Game Pieces

Posted by PicasaThe challenge at Theme Thursday was to use 'Game Pieces' somewhere on your creation so I chose a playing card or two. The background paper is from a QVC set and I added a playing card from an American Airlines set with a mini card on top. Edged with gold peeloffs I made a small diamond topped card. Hope this one is visible today.

Musical Heart

Posted by Picasa 'Hearts 'was the topic this week over at Theme Thursday so here is my very quick and simple card. I stamped and coloured, with Lyra crayons, the heart stamp then added watercolours to create the background. Matted onto some sticky backed card from DCWV and mounted onto a swirly gate fold card from my Kanban box. I just finished it off with some brown and cream spotted ribbon.

Pirates ATC

Posted by PicasaA pirate atc for Theme Thursday's 'Men' atc challenge. The map and mermaid images are from the web and decoupaged and the pirate I found in a magazine I think.

Woman ATC

Posted by Picasa Whilst I was making my Lovely Lady card, which is in the May section now, I also made an atc and here it is for Theme Thursday 'Woman' challenge. I took a white glossy card and covered in in various shades of yellow and orange oil pastels, then covered it with a coat of white Gesso (my new aquisition on holiday). I stamped the image and scratched some Gesso off and coloured her face with chalks, then painted another coat of Gesso. I then added some Crackle glaze and Tea Dye Varnish with a paintbrush then dabbed it off to get the textured finish. A very different way with a favourite stamp.

Speedway Birthday Boy

Posted by Picasa 'Transportation' is the theme at Theme Thursday this week so this card fits the bill I think. From some TV samples I made for Ideal World I have decoupaged the images and chalked the background to make it look like a speedway track. Inside is a voucher for tickets to see a race.

Come round for Tea

Posted by Picasa I made this a while ago using Joanna Sheen stamps and a recipe from a magazine together with a used tea bag and tea bag packet and a sugar sachet. Tea or Coffee is the challenge from Theme Thursday so I hope they enjoy their cup. I am adding DCM 'Recycle' to this one too as the magazine I used is recycled.

Flourish and Striped Circus card

Posted by Picasa I added the tag from the previous challenge to this card for the
Theme Thursday 'Stripes' and 4 x 4 Friday 'Circus' challenges. I have edged the green card with pink and green inks direct to paper and added some stamped flourishes with pink ink for the background. The tag and the added striped button sticker complete the look.

Cherish

Posted by Picasa Made this a wee while ago but I still have the card so can use it for today's 'Cherish' challenge at Theme Thursday. Background black swirls paper printed from Michele Marsden cd and the face stamped in black Stazon and matted on silver mirri card with the rub on word Cherish.

Orange and Black Triangles

Posted by Picasa Playing around with inks and colours today and created this for Arty Girlz 'Triangles' and Theme Thursday 'Orange and Black' challenges. I stippled orange and black inks onto a glossy white card, then overstamped with the triangle and postage stamp in black Stazon. I then cut up the card into triangles and mounted onto orange card stippled with black inks. I added the tags with gold brads - they were also stippled and overstamped. Stamps from Rubbadubbadoo.

Friends make life blossom

Posted by Picasa Well, where do I begin with this creation, which has not turned out quite as I expected and has taken me all night to do.
The background brown card was flower stamped for Created By Hand, with versamark then chalked with pink inks. The torn paper was made using Stardust Stains and scrunched to get the textured look for TMTA (a bit large sorry). Pink holographic card gives some sparkle, for My Time to Craft, as does the stamped image which was stamped in brown and coloured with mostly pink for Theme Thursday, cosmic shimmers. The flowers are handmade, for DCM Extra, with gem centres and the message stamped in brown and coloured in pink ink direct to paper. Maybe I can also include Mixed Media Monday's bright colours too.

Les Bicyclettes de --- Paris

Posted by Picasa I know, I know, it should be Versailles but hey what's between French towns and friends?? This is for Caardvarks 'Transport' theme and Theme Thursday 'Paris' challenge. The background and main images are from Michele Marsden and the bicycle is Joanna Sheen's coloured with Marvy and Stampin' Up pens.

Alphabet Stitching

Posted by Picasa A late entry for Theme Thursday 'Alphabet' challenge and one for DCM extra 'Stitching' dare too. Made for my daughter-in-law whose name is Helen, simple matting and layering with a chipboard letter, ribbon, flowers and sentiment.

By the Sea

Posted by Picasa Here is my late entry for Theme Thursday's 'By the Sea' challenge. The blue card background was run through the new cuttlebug embossing folder Shell Collage, then I used a piece of yellow corrugated for the decoupaged shell, again embossed and cut out and mounted over the grey sea horse. The silver whale and two real sea shells complete the card. This card can also be applied to Mixed Media Monday's 'Texture' challenge I think as the corrugated card is very tactile.

Spring Flowers

Posted by Picasa A nice 'Spring' challenge from 'Theme Thursday' here but the layout I think also fits DCM 'Sketch' this week so two challenges in one. I mounted a green card onto the pink pearlescent card to get the rectangle, then added the watercoloured flowers, under acetate in a green circular frame. The small circle at the top with the butterfly and the purple ribbon complete the sketch and I just added two more butterfly stickers at the botton. The ribbon opens the green card so I could put a secret message in there.

Egyptian Triangles

Posted by Picasa Working with triangles seems to be the 'in thing' today as the challenge from Theme Thursday is also 'Triangle Art'. So I used the same larger images as I did for the atcs yesterday and added these to the script backing paper and some silver corrugated card and mirri card, together with one of the atcs to make this card. I have to thank Joanna Sheen yet again for her stunning images.

Dream

Posted by Picasa Here is another of my favourite stamps, the Moonchild, stamped in black Stazon onto acetate and coloured with glitter and Stickles then placed onto the purple celestial background to which I have added the Dream gold epoxy sticker. I do love this 'Celestial' theme that is the challenge from Theme Thursday.

Black and White Mask

Sending You the Key to my Heart

Posted by PicasaThis piece of artwork covers three challenges today, TMTA 'Postage Stamps', Wednesday Stamper 'Keys' and Theme Thursday 'Valentines'. A piece of red and white mulberry paper was attached to the red card, then the Postage Stamp, Love Letters and Key were stamped with Colourbox chalk inks and cut out with fancy edged scissors and layered on foam pads. I then stippled more red ink over the images and coloured the key with a red Sakura glaze pen. I just added the red velvet heart and stickers for embellishment.

A Fairy Rustle in the Wind

Posted by Picasa Here is a birthday card made for a forum friend which I think fits the bill for Theme Thursday challenge 'Quotes'. The background fairy paper is from Meryle Holland and edged with mauve peel offs onto a mauve pearlescent card. The waterfall base elements are from Michele Marsden and the fairy pictures and quote 'A rustle in the wind reminds us a fairy is near' are also from Meryle.
