St George's Day

St Georges Day or 23rd April is our Grandson's 8th birthday and here is the card I made for him and also for my challenge this week with the Patriotic theme.

The background for the tag was created using Pan Pastels and I overstamped using some Kanban Time stamps in Black Archival ink.  I distressed the edges and added some threads then attached to a brown pearlised card from Hunkydory I think.
I love the fact that you can cover darker card or tags with the Pan Pastels and they remain true to colour.
Do pop to my challenge blog and give the challenge a go this week.
Hope Harry will like the card too.

Challenge # 188 - The Year of the Dragon

Posted by Picasa

Well, after missing out last week's challenge I finally got to complete this weeks - then had internet problems and could not load my tag.... hey ho... technology sometimes wins.
I coloured the tag using Pan Pastels again... yes boring I know but I do love them...
I stamped the dragon and cherry blossom and the 2012 in black Stazon then over sprayed with Gold Perfect Pearls mist to add some shine.  I distressed the edges and inked with Distress Inks then added the little red dragon tag at the top using red ribbon and a staple to attach.  I added the large red hand made flower with a central gem and the little red rose, plus the Asian charm and red stone fastened with a Tim Holtz clip, (it says secrets)  and jump rings.
I hope you like my tag... if you fancy doing something with a Dragon yourself pop over to my challenge blog where the challenge is 'THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON' for Chinese New Year on the 23rd January...... have a Happy 2012 one and all.

WOYWW and Art Journaling

Posted by Picasa
So here is my first creation for this new Year... hope you had a happy one.
I have decided to try to do Kate Crane's journaling challenge this year so here is my January page. This was quite a difficult task as I am still overseas without most of my craft stuff here but I did make the effort.... Geoff bought me a new sketchbook today so made use of it already. I coloured the background with Pan Pastels after spraying with some fab White Spray Gesso I found over here.  I added some stencil markings using darker coloured purples and blues then some stamping using black Archival ink... with the only stamps I have with me.  I added the little decoupaged lady as I thought she fitted in nicely with my colour scheme.  I printed out the teardrop shapes and the lettering and added to the pages. Although this is not quite what I had in mind it is at least a start.... to be continued on my return to UK soon.
This is also for  WOYWW , what is on my desk/cum table this week...if you don't know what I am talking about check out the lovely Julia's blog to find out and go look at everyone's desks this week.

The last challenge of 2011

As this is my last challenge for this year the topic is 'Your Choice'... so here is my DT tag.... yes another tag... I am addicted - just blame the Duke of Distress....
Sorry to say nothing Tim about this one.... I created the background using Pan Pastels my favourite medium right now... mixed some blues and purples with a touch of grey and this is what I came up with  - I like it... so easy to do and very effective.
I stamped randomly with Black Archival inks using some Kanban Time stamps and a freebie flower from Crafts Beautiful.  I found in the drawer here some decoupage sheets... no idea where from but maybe Create and Craft.. so made up this lovely Goddess like female and added some of  the Kanban wings to let her fly free. I added a silver circle and some turquoise ribbon and hey presto job done. Surprising what you can do even if you don't have everything with you... I hope you like.
So that is it for challenges this year.... please do join me in 2012 on my challenge blog for some more interesting ideas and techniques from my lovely entrants.
Thanks to them all for their wonderful support in 2011 and thanks to the fab DT too.
Have a Happy and Peaceful and Safe New Year and enjoy your crafting
I am also entering this for Aud Sentiments challenge this week.
