Mr Steampunk

Here is the card I made for our friend's 40th birthday last week.... you know the one who had the party in Miami... only thing missing are the little light bulbs from Lord Tim..... Dennis is an electrical engineer.... I attached them when over in the States.
The base card and main image are from a Kanban Steampunk set and I added some glossy accents over the clock faces and the goggles. Cogs, wheels, screws and metal message all from Tim Holtz... fabulous as always.  I bought the light bulbs in the States and popped them on the card over there hence not scanning the finished card... no computer over there lol.
The inside had some super vellum papers with more steampunky stuff.... perfect for the man in question... and yes he loved it.

Lookee lookee.... WOYWW

Well, as some of you may know I was over in the States last week on a fab trip to Miami for a party.... yes really all the way from UK for a 40th party.... and super it was too.
Whilst there I HAD to visit Michaels now didn't I??? even though the week before I was at the NEC buying stuff lol and went straight from there to the States.
So imagine my surprise to find this fab wooden carousel sitting all alone on a shelf... we had it in UK and it sold out within an hour and now the shop can't get any more.... So.....yes I HAD to buy it and here it is in all it's wonderful glory.....shown for the benefit of WOYWW... if you don't know what on earth I am talking about check out Julia's blog and snoop around people's desks. (actually Geoff went back for it the second day... I had decided not to buy it but he decided otherwise for me... what a wonderful man he is).
There was 40% off on the ticket and a lovely lady in the shop gave me a 25% off coupon so actually using that as well I got a real bargain.
It actually weighed ten pounds so was rather heavy to carry back to UK but I did it... alone too I may add.... but well worth all the hard work carrying it.
Now I just have to decorate it but that will have to wait until after Christmas as I am sooo behind with my cards lol.
The second photo shows some of my lovely Tim Holtz goodies picked up at NEC and Micheals again with 25% off in the States.
There is also a little pad of POO paper standing next to Tim's fab journals... yes you did read that right.... paper made from Elephant Poo!!! again something I had to buy.

My new challenge this week is 'Thanksgiving'

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the States but not in the UK... not sure why we don't but maybe someone will know.
I made my tag whilst overseas so not up to my usual standard as did not have all of my crafty stash with me.... sorry folks.
I coloured the background using the new fall Distress Inks and overstamped with various script and crackle stamps, distressed the edges  and  used masks to get some more colour over the top.
I used some Tim Holtz papers for the small toppers and distressed the edges with Tim's lovely tool.  I cut out some leaves and decoupaged them on top and added a black ribbon.
So Happy Thanksgiving to one and all... hope you will give my new challenge a go this week.... enjoy.

Inspired by the Princettia

My challenge this week is to create something inspired by this plant above.
It is called a Princettia..... I bought it from QVC where it had been especially bred for the Breast Cancer Care night a couple of weeks ago.... a pink poinsettia..... I have never seen one before and it is truly amazing. Also all the money for the plant went to a good cause so I was happy to purchase it and now it sits on our dining room table in all its glory... I Wonder how long it will live????

So these pages in my album are based on PINK..... I made the album for a friend in the States as a 'Pay it Forward'... I do hope she likes it.  The little flaps contain photos of when she - Melissa and her husband Joe - came over to visit Scotland and play music at the Lighthouse in Dunnet Head.... my friend John's place.... super they were too.

Each double page spread in the book is a different colour and this is my pink one.

So, where do I start... well I sprayed the pages using some Cosmic shimmer sprays in various shades of pink and a touch of red.  Lots of stamping gone on using Claudine Hellmuth and other makes too many to name. The largest dress form is from Tim Holtz coloured with inks and overstamped and raised on foam tape.  The smaller frame has the dress paper pieced over the frame for a change.  I added lots of buttons, flowers, handbag, shoes and gems and swirls to make this a very girly page for Em.

Challenge 177 - Poppies

This week on November 11th we remember those brave men and women who died for us whilst fighting in various wars so my challenge is to show Poppies on your creations. For this easel card base I took some Coredinations craft card and sanded the top roughly just enough to show the craft colour below.  I stamped the poppy stamps from an Inkylicious set and coloured using Promarkers and Copics and coloured the background with Distress Inks.  I sprayed over the top with Crafter's Companion glitter spray.  I added the sentiments from Hunkydory - the smaller one reads 'Don't count the Years - Count the Memories' and stamped some more poppies onto the craft card using black Stazon.
I hope you will Remember the brave ones and maybe create something in their honour.
