That Hat

Posted by Picasa

I was asked by the Woodware ladies at the NEC Trade Show yesterday if I would wear this fabulous flower hat.... my outfit matched.. purple of course. I attracted a lot of attention from lots of people including women... Pete from Sissix told me I looked great lol, as well as Tim and Mario....
It was made from a sheet of 12 x 12 paper cut out by hand from a template... what a lot of work.
I looked 'a tit' as my husband would say but hey ho never mind it caused some laughs along the way. Dyan wanted a black and white polka dot one lol.

'Have a Heart'

This week my challenge is 'Have a Heart' for Valentine's Day... here is the tag I created.
Yes another tag - I have them coming out of my ears now lol.

I coloured the background using Fired Brick Distress Stain and ink then added some stencilling using Perfect Pearls Mists in gold and water. I stamped the lovely sentiment by Lord Tim of the Holtz... you know who I mean... the one who does all sorts of magical things (see Linda's blog for more info lol) and creates some wonderful products for us mere mortals to play with.  Do you think I am a fan??? well naturally I am.
I added a heart that says 'cherish'... found in a shop in Bermuda and another goldish looking heart found who knows where.  Red ribbon, distressed edges and a curled corner and hey presto the tag was made.
I hope you may decided to enter the challenge this week and maybe make something for your loved one for the big day.... mine has already been mailed a week as G overseas on the day. Have fun and enjoy x

Ruby Rainbow

Posted by Picasa
Here is my DT tag for my challenge this week..... in case you didn't know February 3rd is National Wear Red day... celebrated to honour the Heart Foundation, heart health and all the good work the Foundation does. So my challenge is to create something with someone wearing red.  I just received this wonderful stamp today from Dyan Reaveley... she is called Ruby Rainbow - so I had to have her now didn't I???? I decided to have  her dressed in red tartan as I am still in Scottish mood lol.
I created the background using some Distress stains, water and Pearl misters over my new harlequin stencil.... mmm loving the effect the gold has over the colours... you maybe can't see them too well sorry.  I stamped Ruby in black Archival then stamped her outfit onto tartan paper and pieced them together colouring her hair with red Copics and adding her red ribbon.  A red ribbon for the hang tag and the finishing touch with the message.
I wish you all rainbows today and everyday and I hope you like Ruby... she is my new best friend.
Pop over to my challenge blog and enter.... Joanna Sheen is giving a gift voucher this week woo hoo.

February Journal pages

Well, I don't know how we have got to February so fast but we have.....aaahh where does the time go?
I really enjoyed making my February journal pages for the lovely and inspiring Kate's challenge - pop over to her fab blog if you don't know what I am talking about.
So having redone January in a new book I have continued with the same book of watercolour paper (which I just discovered comes apart - shame I didn't know before lol) - added a coat of white Gesso to prime the page then some colours of red and pink using Dyan Reaveley's fab paints... new to me.  Because I swirled and swiped the gesso before it set I got these lovely lines down the pages to which I added some touches of white paint.  I did a little shadow stencilling with a heart stencil and added some random stamps all over... including one that says 'Life is short - eat dessert first'.... like that one!! A few epoxy stickers and some random hearts, a couple of chipboard hearts and a Mardi Gras mask for Mardi Gras day completed the page together with the heart cut outs for each day.  I stamped the date and also the month using a set of stamps from Dimension Fourth that I had forgotten I had... as you do lol. The moon will be full in 7th... hence the yellow dot.
Now all I have to do is complete each day with some journaling events... will February be busier than January? ...yes I think so. Sorry the photo is not clearer.
Now I must away to do my own challenge card for tomorrow... something else I have neglected this week. Check out all the other fab entries to the challenge for some inspiring ideas.
