Have a Heart

Here is my card for my own challenge 'Have a Heart and Wear Red' this week but I am also entering it into the following challenges:-

First I stamped the Queen of Hearts, embossed in silver and coloured her with Promarkers attaching her arms with brads that I also coloured red.  The background photograph of heart candies is one I took whilst in Toronto recently at Lawrence Street market,  I cut a couple of paisley Cuttlebug scallops from the same paper and some gold mirri card and added them to the card.  The corner chomper was used to create the heart shaped corners. A couple of chipboard stickers and hey presto the card was done.

Circular Feathered Silhouette

I have covered three challenges with this one tonight, Wednesday Stamper asked for 'Silhouettes', DCM 'Circles' and TGIF 'Feathers'. The large and red circles were cut using my new Xcut circle cutter (yipee it works so well) then run through the Divine Swirl Embossing Folder. The silver circle is a die cut again Cuttlebugged and for the small circle I used a small circle punch again Cuttlebugged. I stamped the silhouette branches and the fairy from Caroline's Silhouette set then added Sakura silver glaze pen to the wings, leaves and the bottom of the circle. I added the red feather and edged with a Pentouch silver pen.

Motorbiking Frog

I just love this little frog on a bike, the image sent to me by my lovely friend Karen so had to use him for DCM Frog or Fish challenge this week. I coloured the stamped image using Cosmic Shimmers and added some green ink to paper for the background. Matted onto sanded green and black coredinations paper which had been run through the Cuttlebug embossing folder before sanding. I added some other green cuttlebugged papers to a green card, cut the corners with decorative scissors and added a gold peel off sentiment.

Oriental Splendour

No red and black was the 'Oriental' challenge from DCM this week. I made an ATC for a change using a background created using greens and orange alcohol inks swooshed over glossy card. I overstamped in green Stazon with the lovely Ginko stamp and added a sticker pair of shoes. The lady is stamped in green again onto an orange background created the same way and overlayed onto the green background.

Musical Valentine

DCM challenge this week was 'Heart' so here is my musical hearted valentine. The card was from my Kanban box folded into a gatefold. I stamped the heart from Stamps Happen, onto white card the coloured in with various pencils and direct ink to paper for the background. Edged with a corner rounder I mounted it onto peach coloured card also with rounded corners. The message reads 'the magic of music warms the heart and soothes the soul' by D Morgan.

Hawaiian Hula Dancing Doll

I wanted to create something different for a card swap with the Embossing theme but I ended up also covering a few challenges with this creation today, first Saturday Workout 'Spotlight', Step Outside Your Box 'Watercolours', TGIF 'Quotes' and DCM 'Journalling Spot'. Firs,t I created the background using an MCS cd with various Hibiscus flowers and colours on a varigated and muted background. I added to this torn background paper a green card run through the Textile Cuttlebug embossing folder, then added a piece of acetate embossed with the Swirls folder. These were attached with sticky matching ribbon. I stamped and embossed in silver, the Hula dancing doll from Limited Edition Rubber Stamps, and painted her using watercolours and Cosmic shimmers, her arms and legs attached with silver brads and mounted on foam tape. The quote reads 'Wake up every morning with the thought that something Wonderful is about to happen,' and I added Summer and the domed acetate spotlighted 'Follow Your Dreams'. In case you do not know the Hibiscus flower is the State flower of Hawaii where Hula dancers can be seen performing each evening around the sunset hour. I hope my partner will be happy with this card.

Peel Off Kimono

'Peel Offs' was the challenge from DCM this week so here is my Oriental version. The background was stamped, stamps from English Stamp Company, and embossed with red embossing powder then the red card was mounted over the top, also stamped and embossed in red. I added the peeloffs, kimono, shoes and fan to a piece of red card then cut them out and mounted onto the red card which was edged with gold peeloffs. I added a red vellum butterfly for the finishing touch.

Winter Wonderland

Artistic Stamper has a 'Christmas' challenge and DCM a 'Winter' one so here is my Winter Wonderland. I stamped the scene using black Stazon and Art Impressions and Stampscapes stamps then coloured it using Cosmic shimmers, inks and Lyra crayons with water. The whole card is very sparkly and shimmery, difficult to reproduce in the scan. Oops forgot to add My Time to Craft 'Seasons' challenge too.

Christmas Collage

DCM asked for a 'Christmas card in June', so here is the one I made for my own Challenge Blog 'Christmas collage' challenge this week, which I can use for DCM too. I made the background paper in Word then printed it onto cream parchment and coloured with chalks. With a couple of backing papers added the main stamped image also coloured with chalks on gold mirri board. I added various stickers and torn messages to complete the collage.

Decoupaged Crysanthemum

DCM asked for a 'Quick Card' this week so here is my entry, the main card and image printed out from my new Cupcake Crafting Potpourri cd onto white glossy card. I printed a coordinating insert and some decoupage images, then added three layers to the card. The cutting out took the longest time and the whole card took about 10 minutes. This cd is a great addition to my ever growing collection.

Painted Trees

The challenge at Arty Girlz this week was 'Paint' and at DCM use 'Quotes' so here is my effort. Had to photograph it as too much light was reflected from the bubble when I scanned it so apologies for quality. I created the background using acrylic paints brayered onto glossy white card. I stamped with black Stazon the trees from Stamp Addicts, cut into a circle and mounted into the bubble front and attached to the white card. I stamped random tree images on the card, then chalked and edged with green inks. Mounted onto a large green card I added the chalked vellum quote 'Art is man's nature, Nature is God's art'.

What is Inside the House?

I have tried to cover a few challenges here with this card in order to catch up from my holidays. DCM asked for a 'Different shaped card', 4 x 4 Friday 'Architecture', Dans Ma Maison was 'Metal', Layers of Colours wanted an 'Opening' and Sunday Stampers theme was 'Dogs'. Wow 5 challenges there. First, I stamped out the house and chimney onto copper pearl paper using the cracked Earth stamp from Cornish Heritage, cut out the door and windows and added to the 4 x 4 cream card which I cut to the shape of the house. I chalked the curtains and wallpaper and added window frames. I created the roof using gold metal run through the Cuttlebug and cut out the eaves for added dimension. I opened the door and added a little cat and dog waiting patiently for their owner to come inside.

Happy Birthday Helen

Our Daughter-in-law is animal mad so this card will suit her just fine. One of Tina's new FGS trypych images, cut into three and layered on silver mirri card onto the matching pawprint backing paper. A simple Happy Birthday silver peeloff and a pink and silver jewelled flower plus some edging ribbons complete the look. This is also my entry for DCM 'Animal' challenge.

Come round for Tea

I made this a while ago using Joanna Sheen stamps and a recipe from a magazine together with a used tea bag and tea bag packet and a sugar sachet. Tea or Coffee is the challenge from Theme Thursday so I hope they enjoy their cup. I am adding DCM 'Recycle' to this one too as the magazine I used is recycled.

Clocks

More like a pocket watch than a clock but never mind. The theme at DCM was 'Paper or Clocks' so this is my speedy effort. Made from various backing sheets layered together I added the watch on a piece of gold thread together with the fleur de lis charm and message.

Dotty Distressed Tilda

A couple of challenges covered here for DCM 'Distressed' and Tilda and Friends 'Dotty'. The wonderful pink and black paper is from Glenda, layered onto a torn card then edged with Tattered Rose Distress inks. The sticky ribbon is from an Oriental set and the main Tilda image stamped and coloured in Cosmic Shimmers and chalks, the edges again distressed using the same inks. I added the pink dotty ribbon, the dots on the dress and the sentiments with black notes for embellishment.

Copper Bees, Butterflies and Ladybirds

A couple of challenges covered here, DCM extra 'Copper, Wool or 7th Anniversary', Wednesday Stamper 'Insects' and Arty Girlz 'Handmade Backgrounds'. I found a piece of copper foil and ran it through the Cuttlebug flower embossing folder then attached it to a piece of copper metallic card on a cream pearlized card. I created the copper and caramel alcohol inks background and randomly stamped bees, butterflies and ladybirds and attached this over the copper foil. A couple of wooden insects and a yellow flower with the bee sitting on top for embellishments.

Distressed Hot and Spicy Abstract

This is definitely a very strange card for Saturday Workout 'Distressed' challenge and also Step Outside Your Box 'Abstract' and DCM 'Hot and Spicy' challenges. The background consists of Joanna's Lace paper in black and orange, some orange shiny multicoloured paper and some yellow textured papers all run through two Cuttlebug embossing folders, Paisley and Spots and Dots, to create texture, layered onto a black card. The orange central card is edged with two distress inks and the feather stamped with Tattered Rose distress ink. A red ribbon and heart and some sticky ribbons and buttons completes the look - without a focal point to make an abstract card.

Blue Green Stampboard Butterfly

Another Stampboard creation for TGIF 'Blue and Green' and DCM 'Butterfly' challenges. The background was created using alcohol inks applied with the applicator then overstamped in blue with butterflies and sentiments. Silver peeloffs and edged in green inks to embellish. The main image was stamped on alcohol inked, in the same colours, stampboard and triple embossed leaving the bubbles to show rather than being smooth.

Black and White Folded Card

Here is a black and white card with folded edges for two challenges Arty Girlz 'Black and White' and DCM Extra 'Folded' cards. The white background was embossed with the Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder then sprinkled with clear sparkle embossing powder and heat embossed and placed on a silver mirri card. The stamp, from Elusive Images, I stamped in black and added some Silver Sakura pen touches, coloured the edges and added a jewel to the centre of the flower.

The main black card has folded edges at the top and bottom with a couple more jewels for effect. Looks better in real life as the sparkle shows up really well.
