Spring Flowers for Tim's challenge

The fab Tim Holtz threw out a challenge for everyone of his fans to create something using his Tattered Floral and Leaves dies - so here is my flowered tag creation.
To start  off with I attached, using Glue and Seal, some Graphic 45 tissue paper to a sheet of grungepaper then coloured it using Fresco paints, sorry do not yet have Tim's fab new Distress paints, Mermaid, Buttermilk and Dolly Mix. I also covered the tag with the same paints.
I then die cut the flowers and leaves but also cut some out of pink and purple felt to layer between the paper flowers. I stamped on the flowers and leaves using Distress inks and edged each one again with the inks. After shaping I then layered one paper then one felt flower and added a pink brad in the centre to hold them together. I also stamped onto the tag using a crackle stamp from Stamp Addicts and the same inks Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry. Then I attached all the flowers and leaves to the tag and I added some super purple and silver ribbon for the top of the tag plus stamped the word Spring and added one of Tim's words too.

Working 9 to 5... dressmaking

Working 9 to 5... dressmaking is the theme for this journal page (not that I do any sewing at all lol )

I, of course, sprayed the background using Dylusions fab inks and added some ghosting with masks. A few white gesso circles and some stamping followed. I added the sewing edge with a roller by WRMK lots of nice stitches with this set. The stamps are from a Joanna Sheen Haberdashery set.

The dress form is again coloured with inks with some overstamped dots and flourishes, then I added some gold wings, tassel and flower in the centre.  I found some ruler washi tape so added this to the sides and attached some buttons with thread. The little flower is from a Heidi Swapp set and the Artiste button from who knows where. I am quite pleased with how this turned out and yes I did manage to leave some white space Dina x

Mardi Gras Calendar Pages

Here are my March pages for Kate Crane's fab Calendar challenge and also my entry for Simon Says Stamp messy challenge.

My birthday is March 17th St Patrick's day but this year instead of Irish pages I decided to do  Mardi Gras type pages as I love masks of any kind. I have lots in the hallway of our house. Sometimes Mardi Gras is in March but this year it was in February but never mind.

I used Dyan's fab inks to create the background, yes again sorry, I do love messy crafting, with some ghosting and masking using Crafter's workshop masks. I added the calendar spaces and stamped with Distress inks to give a little colour. The main mask is from a download from my friend Ann Whitfield, coloured with Copics then glittered with Stickles. I added some little gems and the purple feather too.

The other mask stamps are from a Stamp Addicts cube and coloured again with Copics. The word stamps are from Card Creations. I found the little black and gold masks and attached them plus a few stickers, bird and butterlfies. I highlighted the 17th with a clear epoxy sticker to remind myself I will be a year older.... no reminder needed really.

February's calendar pages

Well here I am again, twice in two days... how about that?? Here are my February pages completed for Kate's calendar challenge. I sprayed the pages using red and pink colours of Dyan's inks, did a little ghosting and stamped with various masks and stamps.  I added the lovely 'She' figure which is a die cut  and added some stickers and sayings I thought would go well with the romantic month of February. Last year I cut out way too many pink hearts so had enough for this year as well lol.  

The 11th February would have been my Mum's birthday which is why I highlighted it with a sticker. She had a lovely singing voice and sang in many choirs so the words were  just perfect. I also found some pink bunting for the top right hand page and the February stamp is also part of my never ending stash. I also added some decoupaged stickers and a little pink brad on the right hand page... can't see it very well on the picture sorry. There is a little pink bird and a couple of pink butterflies too.

Now all I have to do is write on the pages each day and maybe add a  little doodling here and there.

Inky Pages

Here are a couple of background pages prepared ready for adding images and journaling. The blue and white snowy page started with the second generation inks (from my January calendar page). There are lots of ghosted snowflakes with a few added dots for good measure. More to follow on this one.

The opposite page, again a background created using Dyan's inks... do I ever use anything else I ask??? NO. Some ghosting with a hexagonal stencil and a few added texture overstamps and a few white gesso rings from a bottle top.

More will follow when I finish the pages.

Look what just arrived....

Yes my new set of inks from the lovely Dyan Reaveley together with her new stencils.  Am I excited...??? yes sure am as the white is one of them.

Can't wait to play... will show you when I can xx

Gelli Plate

Last time I was at Dyan's I bought myself a small Gelli Plate to try out. Having read so much about it I had to give it a go.....didn't I?

So this is the result of my first attempt.  I covered the plate with acrylic paints then added a stencil or two and brayered it onto my pages....as the plate is much smaller than the pages in the journal I then took hold of it and, much in the same way as using a rubber stamp without a block, dabbed the remaining paint onto the pages.  I then took some MaiMeri iridescent paste and added that over a stencil or two. You can see the texture in the top right hand corner. I added a few of Tim's grungy background rubber stamps and this was the finished background.

I will add more to it as and when the mood takes me.

BUT I do not really like the Gelli plate....I love to get covered in inks...but paint everywhere no thanks... so not really for me. But I do like the pages so guess I should not complain.

Floral Fantasy

Hello all.... well I decided to come back and see how the new Blogger is working .. if I like it then I may return... or stay with my other blog.
Since being away I have become hooked on Art Journaling.. blame the lovely Dyan Reaveley for that... do check out her blog and see her wonderful creations.
I created these pages in a local class, using the fab Dyan inks together with some ghosting techniques added for good measure. I then overstamped using Black Archival inks with script and random words.  I stamped the flowers, from Studio 490 onto the background then stamped more and cut them out and decoupaged over the top. In real life they do stand out really well. I also managed to leave a little white space on the pages... this idea from the lovely Dina Wakely... it is hard to do though.
